Mother’s Day is almost here, which is the perfect time to show your mom just how much you love her. That being the case, it’s a good idea to give her something that won’t send her to the dentist’s office after everything is said and done.

Chocolate and pancakes in bed are popular Mother’s Day gifts, but these can be a little rough on the teeth. Here are some dentist-approved Mother’s Day gifts that may be a better alternative.

Spa Day

Moms work hard, and they deserve some time to themselves to relax. There’s no better way to do that than with a trip to the spa.

Instead of being bad for the teeth and leaving her with a stomachache, a massage can actually be revitalizing. That makes it a much better alternative to chocolates and junk food.

Flowers

While it might be a little bit cliché, flowers are always a welcome gift for people who like them. There are plenty of places where you can get flowers on short notice, but it’s a good idea to go to a florist and get a personalized bouquet if you have the time.

If you know your mother’s favorite flower you can include plenty of it in the bouquet, but you can also just go for an arrangement that looks and smells good together. There are plenty of ways to get creative with flowers, making it a much more thoughtful (and healthy) gift than a standard box of chocolates.

Something Handmade

Ultimately, mothers love their children more than anything. While there are plenty of good gifts that they’re likely to appreciate, there’s no substitute for something personal.

You can stop by a pottery class and make your mother a mug or bowl, or craft her a card with a personal message inside. It may not look like much, but it’ll probably mean a lot to her.
